DOPPLER STUDY OF PREGNANCY (TWINS)
Doppler ultrasound serves as a crucial tool in monitoring high-risk twin pregnancies, yet recent multicenter randomized controlled trials examining routine umbilical artery doppler (UA), middle cerebral artery doppler (MCA), cerebroplacental ratio (CPR), uterine artery doppler (UtA), and ductus venosus doppler in uncomplicated twins are lacking. This absence of consensus on incorporating doppler ultrasound in the routine surveillance of uncomplicated multiples is evident internationally. This chapter delves into the distinct growth trajectories and development of doppler abnormalities in twins compared to singletons. It reviews international clinical guidelines and proposes recommendations for doppler surveillance, considering recent studies and whether it should be routine or selective.
