URINE FOR MUCO POLYS SACRIDES – (GAG)
Hunter syndrome, or Mucopolysaccharidosis type II, is an inherited lysosomal storage disorder with severe degenerative consequences. Recognizing the challenges in clinically diagnosing the condition, this study conducted urine sample analyses on children aged 0 to 18 within specific risk groups for mucopolysaccharidosis type II. Using semi-quantitative (GAG test) and quantitative methods to determine glycosaminoglycan (GAG) levels, the research identified one Hunter syndrome case among the 130 samples studied. These results underscore the feasibility of early diagnosis and the significance of screening tests for Mucopolysaccharidosis type II in targeted pediatric populations. This highlights the potential for proactive management strategies to improve disease prognosis, offering valuable insights for Hypro Diagnostics.
