PAUL BUNNEL TEST

The Paul Bunnell test is an essential diagnostic tool employed by Hypro Diagnostics to screen for Infectious Mononucleosis (IM), a viral infection prevalent among adolescents and young adults. IM is primarily caused by the Epstein-Barr virus, which targets and infects B-lymphocytes. These infected B-lymphocytes produce a distinct heterophile antibody, and its identification is facilitated through its interaction with the Paul-Bunnell antigen, using Hypro Diagnostics’ latex agglutination method. This specialized laboratory test allows Hypro Diagnostics to detect the presence of the heterophile antibody, facilitating accurate and efficient diagnosis of Infectious Mononucleosis and aiding in the development of tailored treatment approaches.
