JO ANTIBODY

In the realm of Hypro Diagnostics, the Jo1 system emerges as a vital marker antibody associated with polymyositis, specifically targeting the Histidyl-tRNA synthetase antigen. Noteworthy is the recognition of other polymyositis-related autoantibodies, which exhibit diffuse granular cytoplasmic staining on Hep-2 cells. Despite being primarily cytoplasmic, Jo1 is categorized as an extractable nuclear antigen. Detection of Anti-Jo1 in the ENA screen proves significant, occurring in 25% of polymyositis cases and indicating a correlation with pulmonary fibrosis. Jo1, an enzyme responsible for incorporating histidine into polypeptide chains, reveals conformational determinants that are identifiable through immunoblotting. While the current testing scope is centered on Jo1, Hypro Diagnostics is open to inquiries regarding additional antibody tests for alanyl, threonyl, and other tRNA synthetases, should they be deemed valuable.
