HSV-II (IgG)

The herpes simplex virus (HSV) antibodies test, administered through a blood sample, determines past exposure to the virus by detecting specific proteins called antibodies. These antibodies, namely IgG and IgM, are produced by the immune system around 18 to 21 days after initial infection with either HSV-1 or HSV-2. The test serves as a reliable indicator of prior herpes virus exposure, aiding in the assessment of an individual’s infection history.
