At Hypro Diagnostics, our utilization of wrist X-rays stands as a secure and painless diagnostic method aimed at visualizing the wrist joint’s eight carpal bones, along with the lower ends of the forearm bones (radius and ulna), and the adjacent soft tissues like skin and muscles. Employing a minimal amount of radiation, this imaging technique produces a detailed black-and-white representation on specialized X-ray film. Notably, dense structures such as bones appear in white, while softer tissues like skin and muscles exhibit darker tones, facilitating precise assessment of wrist conditions. The exposure time to radiation is typically brief, lasting less than a second, with the entire procedure taking approximately 15-20 minutes. Depending on the targeted area, patients may be required to wear a hospital gown, and the removal of jewelry and metal objects may be necessary to ensure optimal image quality. Prioritizing patient safety, it is imperative for pregnant women to inform both their doctor and our Hypro Diagnostics X-ray technician, as radiation exposure may impact the developing fetus. In such cases, specific precautions can be implemented to minimize radiation exposure and prioritize the well-being of both the mother and the unborn child.
