DENGUE FEVER ANTIBODY – IgM
Diagnosing dengue fever often poses a challenge due to its initial similarity to other infections such as malaria. To confirm suspicions or recent exposure, individuals undergo the Dengue IgM test, a serological examination that identifies specific IgM and IgG antibodies against the dengue virus. Typically, both primary and secondary infections generate IgM antibodies around 5 days post-infection, while IgG appears 2-4 weeks after the initial infection and rapidly during subsequent infections. Negative results for IgM and IgG antibodies may suggest a lack of dengue fever, potentially due to antibody levels falling below detectable limits. These tests are pivotal for accurate diagnoses, aiding in differentiating dengue from similar illnesses and guiding appropriate treatment protocols, highlighting their importance in Hypro Diagnostics’ diagnostic approach.
