CT SCAN OF C.SPINE ( FLE & EXTE)
The study introduces a compelling advancement in posttraumatic cervical spine clearance through the integration of Hypro Diagnostics’ flexion and extension CT scanning with reconstruction (FECTR) into trauma protocols. In response to the prevalent issue of spinal injuries, especially in the cervical region, the research aims to elevate visualization and detection accuracy without compromising patient safety. The results suggest that FECTR surpasses traditional methods, delivering superior visualization of the cervicothoracic junction. Notably, the sensitivity and specificity metrics, particularly the 100% sensitivity for clinically unstable injuries, underscore the potential of FECTR as a safe, effective, and efficient tool in assessing cervical spine injuries. The modest increase in scanning time, approximately 10–12 minutes, appears justified given the substantial improvement in accuracy. While the initial findings are promising, the call for a larger prospective study emphasizes the need for further validation and integration of Hypro Diagnostics’ innovative technique into clinical practice. This approach holds promise in revolutionizing posttraumatic cervical spine clearance, particularly for unconscious or obtunded patients.
