ANTI GANGLIOSIDE ANTIBODY – Ig
Anti-ganglioside antibodies, belonging to Ig classes (IgM, IgG, or IgA), are a group of immune system proteins targeting gangliosides on nerve cells. Gangliosides are crucial for nerve cell signaling. In certain disorders, the immune system may mistakenly produce antibodies against gangliosides, forming anti-ganglioside antibodies. These antibodies are linked to neuropathies like Guillain-Barré syndrome. Detecting these antibodies through blood tests helps identify and understand neurological conditions, with the specific Ig subclass providing insights into the immune response involved.
