24 HR URINARY COPPER ESTIMATION
In this study, the necessity of acid-washed containers for 24-hour urine copper analysis was investigated. Copper solutions, mirroring clinical decision thresholds, were prepared and tested in both plain and acid-washed containers using inductively coupled mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The results indicated minimal concentration differences between acid-washed and plain containers for both spiked assay diluent and urine samples. Hence, the findings suggest that utilizing acid-washed containers may not be necessary for accurate measurement of copper in 24-hour urine samples using mass spectrometry.
