HEPATITIS B.S. ANTIBODY ( HEP. ANTIBODY SURFACE )
The term “Hepatitis B surface antibody” (HBsAb or anti-HBs) refers to antibodies generated by the immune system in response to the Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). Presence of HBsAb in the blood signals either past recovery from Hepatitis B infection or successful vaccination against the virus. Detection of HBsAb is a key indicator of immunity to Hepatitis B, offering protection against future infections. This antibody is distinct from the Hepatitis B core antibody (anti-HBc) and is commonly tested to assess an individual’s immune status in relation to Hepatitis B.
