The Acetylcholine Receptor Antibody (Blood) test, also known as AChR Antibody test, measures levels of a specific antibody in the blood. This antibody, often found in individuals with myasthenia gravis (MG), disrupts the function of acetylcholine, leading to muscle weakness, notably in the eyes. MG, an autoimmune disease, causes symptoms like double vision or drooping eyelids and can affect people of any age, though it’s more common in certain groups. While not contagious, MG requires ongoing treatment to manage symptoms like shortness of breath, speech difficulties, and muscle weakness in various body parts, ensuring a better quality of life for affected individuals.
